Kaley Toney made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.
Unicoi County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .634. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chuckey-Doak only posted an OBP of .077.
Meanwhile, West Greene hadn't done well against Chuckey-Doak recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Buffaloes were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Black Knights. That 16-run margin sets a new team best for the Buffaloes this season.
The team relied heavily on Aubree Everett, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Autumn Carter, who went 4-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
West Greene's victory bumped their record up to 7-18. As for Unicoi County, their win bumped their record up to 30-2.
West Greene's pitching crew better be locked in on Tuesday. Unicoi County hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.2 home runs per game. It's a different story for West Greene, though, as they've been averaging only 0 home runs. Will they be able to keep Unicoi County in the park?
