The Kennedy Commanders will square off against the Aurora Central Trojans at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Kennedy has given up an average of 12.8 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Kennedy had been on a three-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but Lincoln put an end to it on Tuesday. The Commanders lost 12-2 to the Lancers. The defeat continues a trend for the Commanders in their meetings with the Lancers: they've now lost three in a row.
Kennedy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Marcelo Nevarez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Aurora Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They blew past Thornton 16-7 on Tuesday. Aurora Central hasn't had any issues with Thornton recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
Toby Sanchez was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Aurora Central is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-6 otherwise. Sanchez was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Kirby Colbert-Olson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with seven RBI, two triples, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2025. Izai Gonzalez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Aurora Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Aurora Central's win bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Kennedy, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Kennedy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Aurora Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Kennedy couldn't quite finish off Aurora Central when the teams last played back in April of 2025 and fell 10-8. Will the Commanders have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
