The Veterans Memorial Patriots and the Flour Bluff Hornets squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Veterans Memorial Patriots had to settle for second. Veterans Memorial took a 52-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Flour Bluff. Veterans Memorial's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Jayden Paluseo was his usual excellent self, rushing for 88 yards and a touchdown, while also throwing for 236 yards and four touchdowns. Paluseo hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for eight straight games. Jayden Johnson was another key contributor, picking up 107 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Flour Bluff's defensive line stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. Cristian Arriaga was especially locked on to Veterans Memorial's QB and sacked him twice.
Veterans Memorial's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Flour Bluff, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 9-2.
Veterans Memorial does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Flour Bluff is on the road again on Friday and play against Liberty Hill.
