Bourgade Catholic extended their losing streak to ten on Monday, dropping them down to 10-14. They came up short against the Payson Longhorns, falling 12-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Longhorns this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-2 last Monday.
Bourgade Catholic saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Oscar Garcia, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that Garcia has hit this season. Alexander Guzak was another, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
As for Payson, their win bumped their record up to 11-9. The result was nothing new for the Longhorns, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
On Payson's side, Nathan Tsosie made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts Tsosie has posted since back in April of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Landon Parton was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Xavier Robinson, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bourgade Catholic will host San Tan Foothills at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Payson, they will be playing at home against Gilbert Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Knights will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Longhorns surely won't give up without a fight.
