Oviedo proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 20) but on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Lyman 40-37. Given Oviedo's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 251st, while Lyman is ranked 566th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Lake Brantley's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their 11th straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 61-40 walloping at the hands of Lake Mary. Everything came up roses for Oviedo against Lake Brantley when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 63-31 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Oviedo since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
