Softball Recap: Bangor Extends Winning Streak to Six

Bangor entered their tilt with Hartford on Thursday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They blew past the Huskies 20-7. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 14-0 on Thursday.

Carley McCoy was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one run.

In other batting news, Alexis Wisniewski was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Kazi Davis was another key player, going 4-for-5 with six RBI and two runs.

Bangor was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .516. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .353 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

Bangor pushed their record up to 19-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.8 runs over those games. As for Hartford, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-13-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bangor will welcome Gobles at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something the Vikings surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hartford, they will challenge Marcellus at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
