The Horseshoe Bend Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 71-42 defeat at the hands of Garden Valley. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Horseshoe Bend has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Horseshoe Bend still got an impressive performance from Layth Bromgard, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Bromgard is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Treyven Bauer, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Horseshoe Bend has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season. As for Garden Valley, their win bumped their record up to 12-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Horseshoe Bend will take on Council at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Council is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Garden Valley won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Riverstone International at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. Riverstone International is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
