Ei'Lani Herrera was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Payten Bevill and Analiya Feliciano did most of the damage at the plate: Bevill got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Feliciano went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Feliciano is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Branyla Goshay was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Hammond Morton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .639. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Hammond Morton pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.7 runs over those games. As for Mishawaka Marian, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.
