Two dominant forwards in Nimah Ibidunni and McKayla Taylor are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Alexander Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Langston Hughes Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Langston Hughes took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Alexander, who comes in off a win.
Alexander waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They came out on top against East Paulding by a score of 46-35. Given Alexander's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 161st, while the Raiders are ranked 394th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Alexander to victory, but perhaps none more so than Isabella Italiano, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Ibidunni was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Langston Hughes ended up a good deal behind the Knights on Saturday and lost 69-52. Langston Hughes has not had much luck with the Knights recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Alexander's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-9. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.7 points per game. As for Langston Hughes, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-5.
Alexander was dealt a bruising 68-31 loss at the hands of the Panthers when the teams last played back in January. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Alexander was down 40-16.
