After two games on the road, Sangamon Valley/Tri-City is heading back home. They will take on The Nokomis Redskins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Last Friday, things could have been worse for Sangamon Valley/Tri-City, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 40-21 loss to Villa Grove. Sangamon Valley/Tri-City was down 33-7 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Meanwhile, Nokomis earned a 22-12 victory over Cumberland on Friday.
Nokomis found their leader in underclassman Nolan Herpstreith, who rushed for 166 yards and three touchdowns. Herpstreith is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last five games he's played. Nokomis also got a significant boost from Daryl Evans, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 89 yards.
Sangamon Valley/Tri-City's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-0 Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 62.5% over those games). As for Nokomis, their victory on Friday bumped their record up to 4-4.
