Redlands East Valley fell victim to Yucaipa and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Thunderbirds.
Redlands East Valley got a good showing from Isa Navarro, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits Navarro has allowed since back in March.
Meanwhile, Citrus Valley had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Monday. They put the hurt on the Cowboys with a sharp 16-10 victory. Surprisingly, this marked the Blackhawks' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
Citrus Valley got a massive performance out of Nevaeha Tarin, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-5. That's the most home runs Tarin has posted since back in February. Kamryn Caldwell was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base.
Citrus Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive contests.
Citrus Valley's win bumped their record up to 16-10. As for Redlands East Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 9-16.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Redlands East Valley has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Citrus Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
