Westminster Christian Academy suffered their biggest defeat since November 21, 2023 on Saturday. They were beaten by Fort Payne 57-28. While losing is never fun, Westminster Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 235th, while Fort Payne is ranked 11th).
Meanwhile, Oakwood Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They really took it to Valley Head for the full four quarters, racking up a 91-55 win on the road. The victory was just what Oakwood Academy needed coming off of a 79-58 loss in their prior match.
Oakwood Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Chris Callender out in front who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Callender has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Nesbitt, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Westminster Christian Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season. As for Oakwood Academy, their win bumped their record up to 10-11.
Westminster Christian Academy took their victory against Oakwood Academy when the teams last played back in January of 2017 by a conclusive 73-49. Will Westminster Christian Academy repeat their success, or does Oakwood Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
