Roy (Utah) saw its 14-point lead dwindle to seven, but still managed to hang on and defeat
Bonneville (Washington Terrace, Utah) 28-21 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a
Logan Larose touchdown run in the first quarter, the Royals led 13-7 at the half.
Roy expanded its lead to 14 points entering the fourth quarter. RHS scored two times in the third, including once on a
Tyler Skidmore touchdown pass to
Nathaniel Jones.
Ken Linehan stood out for the Royals in the win. The senior ran for two touchdowns.
Dustin Wood played well for the Lakers. The senior kicked one extra point.
Roy got revenge for last year's 6-0 loss to Bonneville with the victory.
The victory was a step in the right direction for RHS, which was coming off a 30-23 defeat at the hands of Logan in its previous game.
Roy (5-2) goes up against Sky View in a 4A Region 5 game matchup next week, while Bonneville (2-6) locks horns with Box Elder also in a 4A Region 5 game.
