The Chaparral Wolverines will face off against the Rock Canyon Jaguars at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Chaparral is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 75-57 victory over Pueblo West. Given the Wolverines' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while the Cyclones are ranked 82nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

 Luke Howery
| 02/28/25 vs Pueblo West | 53% |
| 02/21/25 vs Mountain Vista | 55% |
| 02/18/25 vs Ponderosa | 60% |
Chaparral can attribute much of their success to Luke Howery, who almost dropped a double-double with 27 points and nine rebounds, and Christian Williams, who went 9-for-16 en route to 23 points in addition to five assists and five boards. Howery is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 53% in the last three games he's played. Luke Williams was another key player, putting up eight points and nine boards.
Meanwhile, Rock Canyon strolled past Smoky Hill with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 81-67. The win continues a trend for the Jaguars in their matchups with the Buffaloes: they've now won three in a row.
Rock Canyon found their leader in sophomore Jacob David, who shot 42% from the field to rack up 20 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Davis May, who went 6-for-9 on his way to 15 points.
Chaparral is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.3 points over those games. Rock Canyon's victory bumped their record up to 13-11.
Tuesday's match is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Chaparral has been dynamite from deep this season, having made 39.6% of their three-pointers per game. However, it's not like Rock Canyon struggles in that department as they've made 36.3% of their three-pointers this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Chaparral didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Rock Canyon in their previous matchup back in January, but they still walked away with a 70-65 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Rock Canyon's Kasen Lehman, who shot 47% from the field en route to 26 points. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Chaparral still be able to contain Lehman? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
