It was a good run, but the Valley Central Vikings unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak dating back to last season on Saturday. They took a serious blow against Wallkill, falling 65-36. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Valley Central has scored all season.
Wallkill can attribute much of their success to Sam Dembinsky, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoe Mesuch, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds.
Valley Central's defeat dropped their record down to 4-1. As for Wallkill, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.
Valley Central will be home for the holidays to greet Cornwall Central at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cornwall Central will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 227th, while Valley Central is ranked 69th). As for Wallkill, they will head out on the road to face off against Our Lady of Lourdes at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Our Lady of Lourdes has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 209 points over their last three games.
