3A Region I District 5 recap Oct. 9, 2012
Hirschi moved up to 810 from 852 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 3A Region I District 5. A 25-21 win over Ranchview helped the Huskies improve their standing.
Graham's dynamic duo of Ben Davis and Derek Sides proved tough for Bridgeport to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Davis threw for 295 yards and two touchdowns and Sides had 66 yards receiving. Jerrod Mahan helped Graham's passing attack out by catching two balls for 58 yards.
Queysean Sanders was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 144 yards on 10 carries as Hirschi defeated the Bulls. Rico Shumpert also contributed to the rushing game with seven yards on the ground.
Graham's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Steers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Davis has thrown for 1159 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while Bryce Reeves has 28 catches for 397 yards. Dillon Gonzales leads the league in rushing with 630 yards.
The top two teams in 3A Region I District 5 will face off this week when first place Vernon takes on second place Graham. Vernon fell to Gainesville last week, while Graham bested Bridgeport.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Brad Mccoy's team takes on the Lions. The Steers' offense has scored 218 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while Vernon has allowed only 43 on the year.

Graham led the league in scoring this week after putting up 54 points on Bridgeport. Davis ran for 12 yards in the win.
