The Dublin Fighting Irish will head out on the road to face off against the Swainsboro Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Swainsboro took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Dublin, who comes in off a win.
Dublin scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. Everything went their way against Twiggs County as Dublin made off with a 76-56 win. Given Dublin's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 196th, while Twiggs County is ranked 437th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dublin can attribute much of their success to A.J. Johnson, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Johnson has scored all season. Martravius O?neal was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Swainsboro's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 80-54 walloping at the hands of Baldwin.
The win makes it two in a row for Dublin and bumps their season record up to 4-1. As for Swainsboro, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 0-3.
Dublin came up short against Swainsboro when the teams last played back in January, falling 64-59. Can Dublin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
