Basketball Recap: Columbus Piles Up the Points Against Hardaway

Columbus posted their biggest win since November 8, 2024 on Saturday. They breezed by the Hardaway Hawks to the tune of 60-31. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Blue Devils.

Columbus got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaireus Johnson out in front who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 boards. What's more, Johnson also racked up two steals, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Smith Carver, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 13 points.

Columbus smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Bobby Gary Jr. and Devin Boyd certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Gary Jr. posted six points and six rebounds, while Boyd earned four points.

Columbus has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 9-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Hardaway, they dropped their record down to 5-13 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Columbus wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 47-42 loss against Sumter County on the 27th. As for Hardaway, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 70-50 defeat against Spencer on the 27th.
