5A Region II District 14 recap Oct. 16, 2012
Conroe moved up to 617 from 778 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 5A Region II District 14. The Tigers were able to make the jump by losing to College Park 28-23.
A&M Consolidated was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Bryan. The Tigers came in at 25 in the state poll after placing at number 38 last week.
A&M Consolidated's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jaylan Cheshire threw for 151 and one touchdown and Josh Stewart had 64 yards receiving. On the ground Brandon Jackson chipped in 107 yards. Justin Miller helped A&M Consolidated's passing attack out by catching one ball for 60 yards.
Tristen Newman made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Cavaliers beat Conroe. The junior pulled down one interception, forced one fumble and grabbed one sack.
A&M Consolidated's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Tigers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Cheshire has thrown for 1520 yards and 14 touchdowns this season, while Stewart has 23 catches for 364 yards. Xavier Jones leads the league in rushing with 824 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place A&M Consolidated takes on second place College Park. Last week, David Raffield's team bested the Vikings, while College Park topped Roger Holtkamp's team.
Two of the top units in 5A Region II District 14 will face off this week when the Tigers take on Richard Carson's team. A&M Consolidated's offense has scored 266 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while the Cavaliers have allowed only 122 on the year.
There should be lots of points scored when College Park and the Tigers face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Cavaliers comes in having scored 179 this season, while A&M Consolidated has scored 266. College Park scored 28 points last week as it beat the Tigers.
The Tigers were the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to first in the league. A&M Consolidated defeated Bryan 54-7 earlier in the week.
