They walked away with a 44-32 victory over Founders Classical Academy. Given Grace Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 568th, while Founders Classical Academy is ranked 1157th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Grace Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Reagan Johnson, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and five assists. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lyla Carleton, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Despite the loss, Founders Classical Academy still got an impressive performance from Faith Buterbaugh, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds. Buterbaugh is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mary Tavarez, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Grace Academy pushed their record up to 11-2 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Founders Classical Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 10-10.
Grace Academy and St. Stephen's Episcopal will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully St. Stephen's Episcopal focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Saturday. As for Founders Classical Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against IDEA Health Professions at 6:45 p.m. IDEA Health Professions is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
