 In other batting news, San Diego let  Hanna Patterson and  Diana Martinez loose on the outfield. Patterson  scored five  runs and  stole four bases while  getting on base  in all five of her plate appearances, while  Martinez  got on base  in four of her five plate appearances with six  RBI, a  triple,  and a  stolen base. Patterson is trending in the right direction, as she's  improved her point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of  Amanda Villareal, who  scored three  runs while  getting on base  in all four of her plate appearances.
 Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought  match, but Madison had to settle for  a  6-5 loss against Mission Bay on Thursday.
 Like San Diego, Madison also got a great game from a two-way player:  Sierra Minshew. She  tossed five innings while giving up just two earned  (and three unearned) runs off   five  hits. Minshew was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
 In other batting news,  Savannah Turner made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and  went 3-for-3 with two  RBI and a  double.  Sinai Samuela was another key contributor,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
 San Diego's victory  ended  a  three-game drought on the road  and  puts them at 5-13. As for Madison, they now  have a losing record at 6-7-1.
Madison's pitching crew has a tough task ahead of them:  San Diego has hit smart this season,  having  averaged  an OBP of .447. It's a different story for Madison, though, as  they've  only  averaged .363. Will they be able to contain San Diego's hitters?
