V Section V recap October 8, 2013
Miami took down Alchesay 63-12 last week, the largest margin of any game. Cedric Johnson threw for 48 yards and ran for 110 yards during the win.
The Vandals made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 12,589 from 13,037. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 63-12 victory over the Falcons last week.
Riley Raban threw for 183 yards and 2 touchdowns. He went 10-20 with 2 interceptions.
Ethan Workman was a passing and rushing force as Round Valley topped St. Johns.
Workman was the best running back in V Section V this week. He ran for 207 yards on 14 carries as the Elks lost to the Elks. Teammate Brodee Bell added to the ground attack by rushing for 88 yards.
St. Johns' Raban and Jake Zieler have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Raban has thrown for 760 yards this season, while Zieler has 15 catches for 376 yards. Holbrook's Shem Bowman leads the league in rushing yards with 572.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Miami takes on Mike Morgan's team. Jeremiah Johnson's team is currently in fifth, while the Redskins are in first.
