After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Brenham, Montgomery was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Huntsville Hornets. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by six runs or more this season.
Montgomery got a great performance from Cason Irwin as he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave Irwin a new career-high.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Grant Richardson, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Clewett, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Montgomery has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9-2 record this season.
