The Aspen Skiers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight defeat. They fell just short of Steamboat Springs by a score of 38-36. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Aspen has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Aspen still got an impressive performance from Tommy Franceschi, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Jack Berro, who scored nine points.
Steamboat Springs' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jeffrey Sturges, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Campbell, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds.
Aspen's defeat dropped their record down to 15-4. As for Steamboat Springs, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-9.
Aspen will look to defend their home court on Friday against Delta at 6:30 p.m. Aspen will be up against Delta's rather soft defense (which has allowed 56.13 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive showing.
