Softball Game Preview: Big Walnut Golden Eagles vs. Westerville Central Warhawks

Big Walnut is 0-5 against Westerville Central since April of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The Golden Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Warhawks at 5:15 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Tuesday.

Westerville Central will be up against a hot Big Walnut squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. The Golden Eagles were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over Westland on Thursday. Considering the Golden Eagles have won eight matches by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Grace Melton, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Thornhill, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Big Walnut was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .643. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Westerville Central). Everything went their way against New Albany on Monday as they made off with a 17-6 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Warhawks as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Westerville Central's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Big Walnut, their victory bumped their record up to 12-8.
