Basketball Recap: Ash Fork Drops Highest Score of Season Against Seligman

If Ash Fork was riding high fresh off their 45-24 takedown of Mayer last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Ash Fork Spartans were beaten by the Seligman Antelopes 87-57 on Monday. One positive for the Spartans, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jeffrey Trovillion, who went 9 of 16 en route to 19 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Trovillion a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Josue Tellez, who went 6 for 14 on his way to 13 points and six boards.

Seligman's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Montae Walker, who almost dropped a triple-double on 34 points, nine rebounds, and 12 steals. The match was Walker's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Silas, who went 7 of 13 from beyond the arc en route to 32 points and five boards.

Ash Fork has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Seligman, their win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-6.

Ash Fork wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 63-44 defeat against Williams on the 23rd. Seligman has also already played their next match, a 61-50 victory against Salome on the 22nd.
