Bergman is 10-0 against Green Forest since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Bergman Panthers will be home for the holidays to greet the Green Forest Tigers at 5:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, Bergman faced Elkins in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Bergman fell just short of Elkins by a score of 78-76. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Monday (75), Bergman still had to take the loss.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Green Forest, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 58-44 loss to West Fork on Friday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Green Forest in their matchups with West Fork: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite their loss, Green Forest saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Brayden Compton, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Compton scored a full 29.5% of Green Forest's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hesten Maybee, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Bergman's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-6. As for Green Forest, their loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 5-9.
Bergman beat Green Forest 64-53 in their previous matchup back in January. Will Bergman repeat their success, or does Green Forest have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
