The Mohave Thunderbirds's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their sixth straight loss. They were beaten by Mingus 54-25. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mohave in their matchups with Mingus: they've now lost five in a row.
Mingus found their leader in underclassman Savannah Tobias, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Tobias is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Alice Kinsey, who scored eight points along with 13 rebounds and three steals.
Mohave has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Mingus, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mohave won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Lee Williams at 5:30 p.m. on January 11th. Lee Williams is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak. As for Mingus, they will head out on the road to take on Prescott at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Prescott is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
