The Fort Wayne South Side Archers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a 74-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of Carroll. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game two weeks ago (60), Fort Wayne South Side still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Fort Wayne South Side saw an underclassman step up: Jayvon Irby scored 19 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Irby has scored all season. Cadell Wallace was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds.
Fort Wayne South Side's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 4-9. As for Carroll, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fort Wayne South Side will face off against Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Carroll won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Fishers at 4:30 p.m. on January 20th. Fishers knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 15 matches -- so hopefully Carroll likes a good challenge.
