Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Atascadero Greyhounds, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were beaten by Washington Union 41-13 on Thursday. Atascadero's loss signaled the end of their 15-game winning streak dating back to last season.
Atascadero's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kane Cooks, who threw for 187 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Mateo Cano, who gained 85 total yards and a touchdown.
Washington Union got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Davien Potts out in front who rushed for 57 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 40 receiving yards. Potts was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 57 yards. Decurtis Stroud was another key contributor, rushing for 101 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries.
Atascadero's loss dropped their record down to 10-1. As for Washington Union, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-7.
Atascadero does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Washington Union will head out on the road to face off against Mission Oak at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Mission Oak is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
