Last Tuesday, Vandercook Lake lost to Manchester on the road by a decisive 54-36 margin. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Vandercook Lake in their matchups with Manchester: they've now lost three in a row.
Meanwhile, Hanover-Horton didn't have too much trouble with East Jackson on the road on Tuesday as they won 54-37. Given Hanover-Horton's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 238th, while East Jackson is ranked 526th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Luke Soper continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, shooting 4-for-4 from long range and dropping a double-double on 22 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Hanover-Horton's points. Another player making a difference was Logan Blackledge, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Vandercook Lake bumped their record down to 1-4 with that defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Hanover-Horton, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-2.
Vandercook Lake might still be hurting after the 72-47 loss they got from Hanover-Horton in their previous meeting back in February. Can Vandercook Lake avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
