The Smidt Tech Grey Wolves are taking a road trip to challenge the Stern Titans at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
Smidt Tech hadn't beaten Animo De La Hoya on the road since September 27, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. The Grey Wolves narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Boxers 3-2. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since October 10, 2023, but that streak is no more.
Smidt Tech had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 13-25, 25-17, 25-15, 15-13.

They weren't the only good servers: Smidt Tech was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 15 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 15 aces in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Stern made easy work of Simon Tech on Tuesday and carried off a 3-0 victory.
Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Stern took every set by at least 12 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-7, 25-10, 25-13.
Smidt Tech's win bumped their record up to 15-3. As for Stern, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.
Smidt Tech took their win against Stern when the teams last played back in September by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Grey Wolves since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
