Hernando Christian Academy has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 2-1 during that stretch of close contests.
Hernando Christian Academy suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They fell just short of St. John Lutheran by a score of 36-33.
The losing side was boosted by Emma Hendricks, who scored eight points along with three steals. She hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Briauna Richardson was another key contributor, scoring four points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Seven Rivers Christian fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Carrollwood Day on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Patriots 78-72. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite the defeat, Seven Rivers Christian saw an underclassman step up: Jurisah Bailey dropped a triple-double on 32 points, 12 rebounds, and 15 steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bailey has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Annalise De beer, who dropped a triple-double on 20 points, 11 rebounds, and ten steals.
Hernando Christian Academy now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Seven Rivers Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 9-3.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Hernando Christian Academy have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 26.9 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Seven Rivers Christian, though, as they've been averaging only 30.8 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Hernando Christian Academy took a serious blow against Seven Rivers Christian in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 60-14. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Hernando Christian Academy was down 46-9.
