Onalaska is 2-8 against the Bulldogs since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Onalaska Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the New Waverly Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
After a string of four wins, Onalaska's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They lost to Crockett at home by a decisive 70-51 margin. Onalaska has not had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Shaylan Linear, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Alora Pinkert, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, New Waverly suffered a tough 60-35 defeat at the hands of the Fighting Owls last Friday. While losing is never fun, New Waverly can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1040th, while the Fighting Owls are ranked 296th).
Onalaska's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 19-14. As for New Waverly, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-8.
Onalaska came up short against the Bulldogs in their previous matchup back in January, falling 53-46. Can Onalaska avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
