Newtown came out on top against Francis Lewis on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run fifth inning. The Pioneers blew past the Patriots 12-6. Considering the Pioneers have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Newtown is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-6-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Francis Lewis, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-6.

Newtown does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Francis Lewis, they will be playing at home against Madison at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
