North Pitt is 9-1 against Washington since December of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The North Pitt Panthers will head out on the road to challenge the Washington Pam Pack at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (North Pitt has 11 straight victories, Washington has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
In what's become a running theme this season, North Pitt gave their fans yet another huge win on Wednesday. They breezed by Perquimans at home to the tune of 71-28. Given North Pitt's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while Perquimans is ranked 93rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jordan Speller and Zamareya Jones were among the main playmakers for North Pitt as the former dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten assists and the latter scored 32 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Jones continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last five games she's played. Zihanna Lightfoot was another key contributor, scoring three points along with 13 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Washington suffered a tough 69-45 loss at the hands of Greene Central on Tuesday. Washington has not had much luck with Greene Central recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
North Pitt pushed their record up to 18-3 with that victory, which was their 24th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 32 points. As for Washington, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-15.
Everything came up roses for North Pitt against Washington when the teams last played back in January as the team secured a 66-18 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for North Pitt since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
