Bridge City and Cuero squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Bridge City had to settle for second. They took a 41-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cuero Gobblers. The Cardinals' defeat signaled the end of their 11-game winning streak.

Bridge City lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Whitney Cunningham, who posted 15 points and seven boards. That's the most points she has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Britten, who earned nine points and five steals.

Aubrey Bowles was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds for Cuero. Bowles has been hot, having also posted three or more blocks the last five times she's played. Arissa Carbonara was another key player, putting up eight points and 11 boards.

Bridge City's loss dropped their record down to 35-4. As for Cuero, their win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 33-6.

Bridge City does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cuero, they have already played their next contest, a 60-32 defeat against Lincoln on the 28th.
