Southside is 10-0 against Jones since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Southside Seahawks will head out on the road to take on the Jones Trojans at 6:00 p.m. Southside will be strutting in after a win while Jones will be coming in after a loss.
Southside can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. Everything went their way against Lejeune as Southside made off with a 42-22 win. Southside has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 20 points or more this season.
Southside's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Tamya Smith, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and five assists, and I'Kiriyah Minor, who scored 16 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Smith hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Indiah Moore, who scored six points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Jones' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their tenth straight loss. They were outmatched by Pamlico County on the road and fell 54-11.
Southside's win bumped their record up to 13-8. As for Jones, they dropped their record down to 3-17 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road.
Southside was able to grind out a solid victory over Jones when the teams last played back in January, winning 37-25. The rematch might be a little tougher for Southside since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
