Softball Recap: St. Joseph's Academy Comes Up Short

While it was St. Joseph's Academy who put the first points on the board on Thursday, it was Central Private who put up more. The St. Joseph's Academy Redstickers lost 15-5 to the Central Private Redhawks. The Redstickers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Redhawks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2021.

Kenley Massett was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Ava Norris also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Even though they lost, St. Joseph's Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

St. Joseph's Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. The victory (which was Central Private's third in a row) raised their record to 5-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Joseph's Academy will challenge Liberty Magnet at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Central Private, they will face off against Hammond at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
