Los Gatos has gone a perfect 10-0 against Homestead recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Wildcats will challenge the Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Los Gatos not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 25th (when they won 11-0). They blew past Wilcox 13-2. Considering the Wildcats have won seven matches by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Los Gatos got a great performance from Danica DeSantis as she pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits.
At the plate, Addie Sorto was excellent, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Grace Tucker was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Los Gatos kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Homestead made easy work of Gunn on Tuesday and carried off a 20-9 win. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Titans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Homestead let Elisa Coyle and Izzy Gutierrez run wild. Coyle went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple, while Gutierrez went 2-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. Coyle also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Leela Menon, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Los Gatos is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Homestead, their record now sits at 7-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Los Gatos has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Homestead struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Los Gatos' way against Homestead when the teams last played back in March, as Los Gatos made off with a 10-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
