Viera is a perfect 9-0 against Bayside since February of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 6:00 p.m. Viera is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.8 runs per game this season.
Bayside will be up against a hot Viera team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Viera never let Palm Bay get on the board and left with an 18-0 victory last Thursday. Considering the Hawks have won four matches by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Rylan Cozzie Cozzolino was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. Another player making a difference was Madison Rider, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-1.
Viera was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .667. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, while it was Bayside who put the first points on the board last Tuesday, it was Eau Gallie who put up more. Bayside came up short against Eau Gallie, falling 16-6. The loss continues a trend for the Bears in their meetings with the Commodores: they've now lost six in a row.
HANNAH DOLLAR made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of ZOE PARKER, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.
Viera's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Bayside, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
Bayside's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Viera has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.3 hits per game. It's a different story for Bayside, though, as they've been averaging 10.4 hits. Given Viera's sizable advantage in that area, Bayside will need to find a way to close that gap.
Viera skirted past Bayside 1-0 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Viera since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
