Hobbs made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,783 from 3,496. The advance stemmed from a 30-28 victory over Clovis last week.
The Eagles led 5A District 4 in scoring this week after putting up 30 points on the Wildcats.
6-foot-5 quarterback Rodney Holcon of Carlsbad is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,400. He has also thrown 16 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Travon Sopila. The Clovis star has 16 catches for 431 yards.
The most important game in the league this week will be the match up between Hobbs and the Cavemen. Charles Gleghorn's team comes into the matchup ranked 16th in the state, while Carlsbad ranks 19th.
Clovis fell 30-28 to the Eagles in the closest game of the week. Kamal Cass ran for 300 yards in the defeat.
