Sunnyside hasn't had much luck at home recently (they'd lost three straight ) but thanks in part to Nathan Schofield that streak is no more. The Blue Devils strolled past the Amphitheater Panthers with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 75-58 for which the team can thank Schofield, who dropped a double-double with 39 points and 17 boards. He is becoming a predictor of Sunnyside's success: when he posts at least 25 points the team is 3-1 (and 6-16 when he doesn't).
The team also got some help courtesy of Dezmond Victoria, who posted four points and three steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played.
Despite the loss, Amphitheater saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Babo Hussein shot 53% from the field on his way to 23 points. Nick Valencia was another key player, going 5-for-10 en route to 11 points and eight rebounds.
Sunnyside's win bumped their record up to 9-17. As for Amphitheater, they are on a 22-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-20.
Sunnyside wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 87-57 defeat against Tucson High Magnet School on the 12th. Amphitheater does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
