The Traverse City Central Trojans came into Thursday's matchup having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They strolled past Gaylord with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 87-69. The win was just what Traverse City Central needed coming off of a 68-46 loss in their prior contest.
Despite the loss, Gaylord still got an impressive performance from Luke Gelow, who scored 42 points. That was a full 60.9% of Gaylord's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Torino Lamerato was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Traverse City Central's victory bumped their record up to 3-13. As for Gaylord, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Traverse City Central's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Cass Tech at 5:30 p.m. on February 10th. Cass Tech is coming into the match with six straight victories on the road, so Traverse City Central is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum. As for Gaylord, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Boyne City at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Gaylord focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Thursday.
