The Highline Pirates struggled with offensive rebounds on Wednesday (the Franklin Pierce Cardinals had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Highline suffered a rough 70-49 defeat at the hands of Franklin Pierce. Highline has struggled against Franklin Pierce recently, as their match on Wednesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Highline still got an impressive performance from Corey Crosby, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds. The matchup was Crosby's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marquawn Mccraney, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Amaar Coleman was his usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with four steals for Franklin Pierce. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for him. Javon Barbee was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Highline's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Franklin Pierce, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-3.
Highline won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Decatur at 7:15 p.m. on December 21st. Decatur is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. Franklin Pierce will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Enumclaw at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024.
