After a string of three wins, the Washington County Golden Hawks's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Putnam County by a score of 49-47. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Several Golden Hawks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cameron Beasley, who threw for 223 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Jusden Culpepper was in the mix too, providing Washington County with two touchdowns.
Putnam County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kaleb Crawford, who rushed for 238 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.3 yards per carry. Rashod Daniel also helped out as he racked up 129 rushing yards.
Washington County now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Putnam County, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Washington County will be playing at home against Cook at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Cook is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. As for Putnam County, they will square off against Fitzgerald at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Fitzgerald presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Putnam County in Georgia (Fitzgerald is ranked 118th, while Putnam County is ranked 269th).
