After flying high against the Cypress Creek Cougars last Friday, The Jersey Village Falcons came back down to earth. Jersey Village's rough 41-18 defeat to Memorial on Saturday might stick with them for a while. Jersey Village lost against Memorial in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 56-28 score last time.
Jersey Village's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Josh Nunez, who rushed for 75 yards and a touchdown. Nunez's longest rush was for an incredible 75 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Quinton Jones, who rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown.
Memorial was led to victory by Corbin Comiskey and Jackson Salters. Comiskey rushed for 102 yards and two touchdowns, while Salters threw for 255 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 12.1 yards per attempt. Cooper Gindorf was another key contributor, rushing for 60 yards and a touchdown.
Jersey Village's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Memorial, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jersey Village will square off against Northbrook at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Northbrook comes in on a streak of failing to score more than seven points in their last eight games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Memorial, they will head out on the road to face off against Stratford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Stratford is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
