Westminster has gone a perfect 6-0 against Gateway recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Wolves will take on the Olympians at 10:00 a.m. Westminster is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
Westminster will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Northglenn on Thursday. The Wolves walked away with a 13-8 win over the Norse. The victory was some much needed relief for the Wolves as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.
Adrian Moreno was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Grant Martinez, who went 2-for-4 with four runs and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Westminster kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are 6-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Gateway hadn't done well against Skyview recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Olympians were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Wolverines. The Olympians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.
Yanndy Aguayo made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off 14 hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Jakob Petersen and Heber Almeida did most of the damage at the plate: Petersen went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Almeida got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Gateway is undefeated when Almeida posts two or more runs, but 2-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Colt Wenzel, who went 3-for-4 with two runs.
Westminster's record is now 6-11. As for Gateway, their record now sits at 9-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Westminster has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Gateway struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Westminster came out on top in a nail-biter against Gateway when the teams last played back in April of 2025, sneaking past 10-9. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolves since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
