It was a good run, but the Laurel Panthers unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 48-34 bruising from Heartland Christian. Laurel was down 42-19 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Heartland Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Reagan Clemens out in front who scored 20 points along with six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Clemens has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Landon Clemens, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Laurel's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-6. As for Heartland Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season.
Laurel will head out on the road to face off against the Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Columbus HomeSchool knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 12 contests -- so hopefully the Panthers like a good challenge. As for Heartland Christian, they and the Grizzlies will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Legacy Christian is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
