The Keys Gate Knights will take on the Somerset Academy Panthers at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Monday just wasn't the day for Keys Gate's offense. They fell just short of Mater Lakes Academy by a score of 1-0 on Monday. The loss continues a trend for the Knights in their meetings with the Bears: they've now lost four in a row.
Osmar Mena was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, Somerset Academy made sure to put some runs up on the board against Yulee on Thursday. The Panthers walked away with a 12-7 win over the Hornets. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Panthers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Matthew Fari?as made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Kareem Amer looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Somerset Academy got a massive performance out of Brady Kenhan, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was Kenhan's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jon Mora, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, three stolen bases, and two runs.
Somerset Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Somerset Academy's record is now 10-6. As for Keys Gate, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.
